The ultimate synthesis

If there were an allegory to describe the birth of Blason Timberlay, it would have to be David versus Goliath.

At Vinexpo 1987, Robert Giraud S.A. made an bold wager : to prove that a Bordeaux wine shipper can sell a generic wine that has received the same care and attention as the finest great growths.
This initiative was taken to fill a gap in their product range. Maison GIRAUD did not have a serious flagship brand like all the other great Bordeaux shippers.

Furthermore, market saturation called for the creation of a truly original product. It was decided to launch a wine with a marketing concept based on the GIRAUD family's coat of arms, which are the same as Château Timberlay's.

The latter estate is known throughout the world and has been the family home for three generations. The wine's unusual, attractive label symbolizes the combination of innovation and tradition.

As for the wine itself, it is a very carefully selected blend which receives extra special care during winemaking and ageing.

The red wine ages in new oak barrels in the fully restored underground cellars at the Caves de la Vignolle, located exactly on the 45th parallel.

Over twelve hundred barrels of wine age peacefully in these cellars, in an atmosphere of history and legend under ideal cool, dark conditions.

The white wine, the cream of the appellation, is made primarily with Sauvignon Blanc grapes.

A rose wine, in the true tradition of the original Bordeaux "Clairet", has rounded out the range since 1992.

Blason Timberlay's growing reputation, as proved by sales figures, shows that the wager has been won.
