Wine has been made in this area since Roman times. The name of the Château refers to the location of a Roman Fort on this strategic point on the heights above the Dordogne river.
This deep, garnet-red wine has a straightforward, well-developed bouquet reminiscent of red fruit. On the palate, the wine is soft and round with velvety tannin. Château Romefort is an excellent, well-balanced wine that is a perfect match with both red and white meat dishes, or with soft-ripened cheeses.
70% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Petit Verdot & Malbec
