Château Haut Chatain - Lalande de Pomerol

Since its purchase in 1912, the Château Haut Châtain vineyard has remained in the family for three generations.
Château Haut Châtain lies within the commune of Néac, very close to the prestigious vineyards of Pomerol and Saint-Emilion. The character of the wine is in direct relation to the different gravel and clay terroirs found within the vineyards : the clay soils give it robustness and body, whilst the gravel contributes, finesse and elegance.

The greatest care is taken of the vines all year round so that perfectly mature grapes will be harvested, producing wines that are fruity and balanced with a good amount of tannin when young.

Traditional ageing in oak casks, with between 25% and 50% of barrels replaced each year (depending on the vintage), allows the flavour of the wine to be respected so as to obtain perfect harmony between wood and wine

Every year, Château Haut Châtain produces a spicy, occasionally peppery, bouquet with hints of cherry jam. On the palate, ripe grape tannins blend with the tannin of the oak casks to produce a perfectly balanced wine.

This wine is full and round, with hints of cocoa quickly evolving into the taste of candied fruits. It is a wine that is typical of its terroir, with good length.
